Ward House

home > ward house

During last summer I had the pleasure to work with Davide Lovatti, a leading Italian photographer mainly working on interiors. Together we set up and photo shot Italian-American architect Christopher Ward‘s house, which was recently featured on two international magazines, Departures US and Elle Decoration UK!
Architect Ward designed his family house in every detail like materials, interiors and outdoor areas. The project has been inspired by high-end Brazilian and Californian architecture, particularly by the work of John Lautner. Christopher says “I want to create something simple yet sophisticated; to play with modest architecture, but clad it in rich and warm materials”.

The material selection plays on the contrast between natural essences like wood and stone and the most up-to-date materials like synthetic resin used for interior flooring. Wide glass windows and the many cantilevered terraces ubiquitously connect indoor and outdoor, so that the garden becomes fully integrated with the house.

Interiors feature a mix of design, vintage furniture and unique pieces designed by architect Ward, likewise the garden is divided between tropical plants and officinal herbs.
